Library Renovation

From Summer 2011 to Fall 2013, I worked on multiple aspects of the renovation project that would turn aging Ganser Library into McNairy Library and Learning Forum.

As a leader in the Student Advisory Board, I was asked to compile student input and be a representative for the student voice, especially for ways the new library space could be more beneficial for students. We conducted surveys to help inform our discussions of new spaces and initiatives.

During Summer 2011, I helped the archives pack and label their boxes for storage. As well, I condensed and shifted cases of microfilm to prepare them for storage. We opened an alternate library location, supplied with a reduced collection and areas for student study, during the two years of the renovation. There was also an alternate archives and special collections building open, with a reduced available collection.

From Fall 2011 to Spring 2013, I worked in the alternative archival building, processing collections, transcribing, scanning, and assisting student researchers.

During Summer 2013, I was a crew leader for a team of students unpacking books as they were brought back into the library. I also assisted with the return of the archives: we unpacked boxes, and rearranged our collections within the newly renovated space.

In Fall 2013, I worked processing in the archives and special collections, building phase boxes and recording oral history interviews.
